Are wedding videos worth the investment?

It’s a common question among brides these days.

A video is a HUGE investment.

There are so many things to consider:

  • Where should I have my wedding?
  • Who’s catering?
  • Do I want a cake?
  • Who do I hire as my photographer?
  • And do I want a videographer?

Today we will be answering the latter: are wedding videographers and wedding videos worth the investment?

We had the opportunity to sit with Jamison Braly (founder of JBV Films) to dig a little deeper into what being a wedding videographer looks like.

He answers some of the top questions about why hiring a wedding videographer is a good idea.

The Trend: Wedding Videography Continues to Grow

There is no denying that wedding videography has grown tremendously within the last few years. We have seen more and more couples requesting for a short film of their wedding day, and we are completely for it!

If you are on the fence about hiring a videographer, keep reading and we will explain the significance of having one present during your wedding day.

The Convenience of a Wedding Videographer

Imagine this.

All your hard work, phone calls, scheduling, meetings, and wedding planning are all fitting together for this one day: your wedding day.

Finally, it all pays off!

You’re exhausted, excited, tired and energized! So much energy goes into this perfect day of your dreams.

With so much happening, it’s hard to take it all in and to really appreciate each second of the day.

Listen up: this brings us to our main point on why investing in a wedding videographer is a great idea.

Whether it’s behind the scenes of your ceremony set up, getting ready with your girls, the first look with your partner, reading letters to your bride or groom and even the dancing and singing during your wedding reception – these videos allow us to relive those moments

Story Telling: It’s All About the Story…

Jamison tells us that many of his brides often say that their wedding day flies by so quickly and that they hardly remember some moments of the big day.

In his videos, Jamison captures those behind the scenes moments of brides and grooms with their bridal party, their families and friends.

It is such a gift to be able to witness those sweet moments over again, to look back and laugh or cry.

What Wedding Videography Accomplishes

We asked Jamison what he wishes to accomplish through his videos, and this is what he had to say.

“Ultimately, my goal is something I will never see.
I don’t care about likes, follows, or hearts with my videos. What I want is for a family tree to be positively affected.”

(que awwwwwws) I mean seriously, are there any truer words?

Your wedding video should carry a lifetime of joy, happiness and nostalgia.

They say things get better with time – this is applicable to wedding videos as well. Imagine 5, 10, 20 years from now, watching your wedding video with your family and reliving those moments.

Wedding videos don’t just capture the events of your day, but they tell a story.

A kind of story that can be passed along through generations. One that will be remembered and treasured for years to come.

The Technicalities: Are Wedding Videos Worth the Investment?

Not only are you investing in the content of the video, but you are also investing in the time, labor and equipment behind it.

Equipment and labor cost can be quite intensive – from camera lenses to lighting, to mics, to second shooters, to 8-12 hour days, to editing software and hours of editing, etc.

Wedding videography takes lots of skill, experience, and good equipment. There are specific moments of the wedding day that need capturing and it takes someone with proper equipment who knows the backbone of weddings and is prepared for those moments.

So, once you factor in all the little things that go behind making a wedding video, are wedding videos worth the investment? We say YES, but you get what you pay for.
